  • Walnuts: 8 minutes
  • Pecans: 8 minutes
  • Pistachios: 5–6 minutes
  • Peanuts: 10 minutes

Cool completely.

Step 2 – Chop

Leave some nuts whole.

Roughly chop the rest.

Step 3 – Make the Syrup

In a saucepan combine:

  • Honey
  • Maple syrup
  • Butter
  • Salt

Heat over medium until bubbling.

Cook 2–3 minutes.

Remove from heat.

Add vanilla.

Step 4 – Combine

Pour hot syrup over nut mixture.

Mix until every piece is coated.

Step 5 – Press

Line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) pan with parchment paper.

Transfer mixture.

Press very firmly using:

The tighter you press, the better the bars hold together.

Refrigerate for 1–2 hours until firm.

Slice into bars using a sharp knife.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use only one type of nut?
Yes. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, or any single nut will work, though a mix gives the best flavor and texture.

Q: Can I make these without honey?
Yes. Replace the honey with maple syrup, brown rice syrup, or agave syrup. Brown rice syrup tends to produce the firmest bars.

Q: Why are my bars falling apart?
This usually happens if the syrup wasn’t cooked long enough, the mixture wasn’t pressed firmly into the pan, or the bars weren’t chilled sufficiently before slicing.

Q: Can I make them gluten-free?
Yes. The ingredients listed are naturally gluten-free, but check labels on chocolate and flavorings to ensure they are certified gluten-free if needed.

Q: Can I reduce the sweetness?
Yes. Use dark chocolate (70–85% cocoa), reduce the dried fruit slightly, or choose unsweetened dried fruit.

Q: Can I add seeds?
Absolutely. Chia, flax, sunflower, sesame, pumpkin, or hemp seeds all work well. Replace up to ½ cup of the nuts with seeds if desired.

Q: Are these bars healthy?
They provide healthy fats, protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals from the nuts and fruit, but they are also energy-dense because of the nuts, sweetener, and chocolate. They make a satisfying snack or dessert when
