2. Crunch mixture
For the crunchy pieces visible throughout/on top:

½ cup toffee bits

½ cup crushed pretzels

¼ cup chopped pecans

¼ cup caramel sauce

Small pinch of flaky sea salt

Optional
You can add 2–3 tbsp crushed graham crackers if you want more of a cheesecake-crust flavor.

STEP-BY-STEP RECIPE
Step 1 — Soften the cream cheese
Take the 8 oz cream cheese out of the refrigerator.

Let it soften for about 30–45 minutes.

Put it in a large mixing bowl.

Beat with an electric mixer for approximately 1–2 minutes until completely smooth.

Important
Don’t skip this step.

If the cream cheese is cold and hard, you’ll probably get little white lumps in your cheesecake.

Step 2 — Add the Jell-O mix
Add the entire package of:

Jell-O Salted Caramel Crunch Cheesecake Mix

Beat until the cream cheese and dry mix are thoroughly combined.

At this point it will be quite thick.

Step 3 — Add the cold milk
Measure:

1½ cups / 360 ml very cold whole milk

Start your mixer on low speed.

Slowly pour the milk into the cheesecake mixture.

Once incorporated, increase to medium speed and beat for approximately 2–3 minutes.

The mixture should become:

thick

smooth

creamy

slightly fluffy

Don’t dump all the milk in at once if you want the smoothest texture.

Step 4 — Add caramel flavor
Add:

½ tsp vanilla

2–3 tbsp caramel sauce

¼ tsp salt, optional

Mix until smooth.

For stronger salted caramel flavor
Use:

3 tbsp caramel + ¼ tsp salt

The salt shouldn’t make the dessert taste salty. It should make the caramel taste deeper.

Step 5 — Add whipped topping
Thaw 8 oz / 225 g Cool Whip or another whipped topping according to its package directions.

Add it to the cheesecake mixture.

Use a spatula to gently fold it in.

Don’t aggressively beat the whipped topping.

You want a light, fluffy cheesecake filling.

STEP 6 — Make the crunch
In a separate bowl combine:

½ cup toffee bits

½ cup crushed pretzels

¼ cup chopped pecans

Mix gently.

Reserve approximately half of this mixture for the tops.

You can put the other half inside the cheesecake cups.

Important for the photo appearance
Don’t make everything into powder.

You want a mixture of:

small crumbs + medium pieces + a few larger nut/toffee pieces.

That’s what gives the cups the chunky appearance shown in your photograph.

STEP 7 — Assemble the cups
Use clear 8–10 oz dessert cups.

For the closest appearance to your photo:

Layer 1
Add approximately:

2–3 tbsp cheesecake mixture

to the bottom.

Layer 2
Add a small amount of crunch.

Approximately:

1–2 tsp

Layer 3
Add another:

3–4 tbsp cheesecake mixture

Layer 4
Add another small amount of crunch.

Top
Finish with cheesecake mixture, leaving a little space below the lid.

This gives you the attractive:

cream → crunch → cream → crunch → topping

appearance.

STEP 8 — Caramel topping
Drizzle approximately 1–2 teaspoons caramel sauce over each cup.

Don’t use too much.

Too much caramel can make the surface wet and overly sweet.

STEP 9 — Add the nut/toffee topping
Sprinkle over each cup:

chopped pecans

toffee pieces

crushed pretzels

tiny pinch of flaky sea salt

For the exact visual style of your picture, make the topping fairly generous.

STEP 10 — Refrigerate
Put the lids on the cups.

Refrigerate for:

Minimum: 2 hours
Better: 4 hours
Best texture: overnight

The filling becomes considerably firmer after chilling. Similar versions recommend 2–4 hours of refrigeration.

HOW TO MAKE THEM LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE PHOTO
The secret isn’t just the recipe — it’s the assembly.

Use:
clear cups

thick cheesecake filling

chunky topping

caramel drizzle

chopped pecans

toffee pieces

Don’t:
pulverize the nuts

mix all the crunch into the filling

add excessive caramel

fill the cup completely to the lid

For a commercial/bakery appearance, put the cheesecake mixture into a piping bag and pipe it into the cups. This produces much cleaner layers.
ALL NUT INFORMATION
This is important because the photographed dessert appears to contain chopped nuts, most likely pecans or a similar nut.

Pecans
The recipe uses:

¼ cup chopped pecans

Pecans are tree nuts.

You can substitute:

walnuts

almonds

cashews

peanuts

But these are not allergy-equivalent substitutions.

Peanut vs tree nut
Peanuts are legumes rather than tree nuts. Someone allergic to tree nuts isn’t automatically allergic to peanuts, and vice versa.

If you’re preparing these for someone with an allergy, don’t assume that replacing pecans with peanuts makes them safe.

Nut-free version
If you want the cheesecake cups to be nut-free, simply leave out the pecans.

Replace them with:

extra crushed pretzels

extra toffee pieces

crushed caramel cookies

graham-cracker crumbs

Nut-free topping
Use:

½ cup toffee + ¾ cup crushed pretzels

instead of the pecans.

However, check every package’s allergen statement. Removing the visible pecans doesn’t necessarily make the finished dessert safe for someone with a severe allergy because packaged ingredients can have allergen cross-contact.

The exact allergen information for the Jell-O mix in your photograph should be taken from your actual box, rather than assuming that every version/package has identical ingredients.

Other allergen information
This recipe normally contains or may contain:

Milk/dairy
cream cheese

milk

whipped topping

possibly dairy ingredients in the cheesecake mix

possibly dairy in toffee/caramel

Gluten
The pretzels generally contain wheat/gluten.

Some toffee/caramel products may also have ingredients or cross-contact that matter for people avoiding gluten.

Soy
Some packaged whipped toppings, caramel products, toffee, chocolate/caramel pieces, or cheesecake mixes may contain soy or have soy cross-contact.

Eggs
Depending on the exact packaged cheesecake mix and toppings, check the package label.

For serious allergies, use the ingredient/allergen statement printed on each package.

APPROXIMATE NUTRITION
Because brands and quantities vary, these are rough estimates, not laboratory values.

If the batch makes 8 cups, one cup will roughly be in the range of:

Nutrient Approx. per cup
Calories 450–600 kcal
Protein 7–10 g
Carbohydrates 50–65 g
Fat 22–32 g
Sugar 35–50 g
Fiber 1–2 g

The biggest variables are the cheesecake mix, whipped topping, caramel sauce, toffee and quantity of nuts.

If you want exact nutrition, send me a photo of the back of your Jell-O box + your caramel/toffee/whipped topping labels, and I can calculate calories, protein, carbs, fat, sugar, fiber, and sodium per cup.

IF YOU WANT TO SELL THESE
This recipe is particularly good for individual dessert sales.

For 8 cups, divide the finished mixture evenly.

A practical commercial portion is:

8 oz cup → approximately 200–250 g finished dessert, depending on how much topping you use.

For selling, I recommend:

Prepare the cheesecake mixture.

Pipe it into cups.

Refrigerate.

Add the crunchy topping shortly before delivery.

Add lids.

Keep refrigerated during storage/transport.

The crunchy topping stays much better if it isn’t sitting in wet caramel for too long.

Q&A
Can I make these without cream cheese?
Yes, but the texture will be lighter and less cheesecake-like. For the closest result to the photograph, use cream cheese.

Can I use low-fat milk?
Yes, but whole milk gives a richer texture.

Can I use evaporated milk?
You can, but I would use regular cold whole milk for the closest texture.

Can I use homemade whipped cream?
Yes. Use approximately 2 cups freshly whipped cream in place of the whipped topping, but homemade whipped cream can be less stable over several days.

Why is my cheesecake mixture too thin?
Usually one of these:

too much milk

warm ingredients

insufficient mixing

incorrect cheesecake mix

not enough chilling

Refrigerate it for several hours before deciding it’s too thin.

Why is it lumpy?
Usually cold cream cheese.

Next time, soften the cream cheese completely before mixing.

Why did my pretzels become soft?
Moisture from the cheesecake and caramel migrates into the pretzels.

For maximum crunch, reserve some topping and add it immediately before serving.

Can I make these the day before?
Yes. In fact, overnight chilling gives a very good texture.

Keep them covered and refrigerated.

How long do they last?
For best quality, I’d use them within approximately 2–3 days, kept refrigerated. Similar cheesecake-cup recipes recommend refrigerated storage and consumption within a few days.

Can I freeze them?
You can freeze the cheesecake filling, but the pretzels and nut/toffee topping won’t retain their original crunch after thawing.

For the best result, freeze the cheesecake portion and add fresh topping after thawing.

Can I make them without nuts?
Yes. Use extra pretzels/toffee or cookie crunch.

Can I make them gluten-free?
Potentially, but you’ll need certified gluten-free pretzels/cookies and must verify the cheesecake mix, caramel, toffee and other packaged ingredients.

Can I make them less sweet?
Yes.

Reduce the extra caramel sauce in the filling and use less caramel on top. Don’t add unnecessary powdered sugar—the boxed mix and toppings already provide substantial sweetness.

How do I make the caramel flavor stronger?
Use 3 tbsp caramel sauce in the filling, then add a thin caramel drizzle on top.

How do I get the strongest “salted caramel” taste?
Use the combination of:

caramel + a small amount of fine salt + flaky salt on top + toasted pecans + toffee crunch.

The contrast between sweet caramel, salt and roasted nuts is what gives the dessert its characteristic flavor.
