1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
For the Vegetables
1/3 cup red onion, finely diced
1/2 cup cucumber, finely diced
1/3 cup red bell pepper, finely diced
1/3 cup cherry tomatoes, finely chopped
2 tablespoons green onions, finely sliced
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped
For the Lettuce Wraps
10–12 large lettuce leaves
Romaine lettuce, butter lettuce, iceberg lettuce, or large green-leaf lettuce can be used.
Optional Toppings
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 small jalapeño, finely chopped
2 tablespoons chopped celery
2 tablespoons chopped pickles
1 tablespoon hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Extra lime wedges
Fresh cilantro or parsley
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Chicken
If you are using leftover cooked chicken or rotisserie chicken, simply shred it into small pieces.
If cooking the chicken fresh, place the chicken breasts in a saucepan and cover with water or chicken broth. Add a little salt and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Remove the chicken from the liquid and allow it to cool slightly. Shred it using two forks or chop it finely with a knife.
For extra flavor, you can also season the chicken with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika and oregano before baking or pan-cooking it.
Step 2: Prepare the Avocado
Cut the avocados in half and remove the pits. Scoop the avocado flesh into a large mixing bowl.
Mash the avocado with a fork until creamy. You can leave a few small pieces of avocado for extra texture.
Immediately add the fresh lime juice and mix well. The lime juice adds freshness and helps slow the avocado from turning brown.
Step 3: Make the Creamy Sauce
Add mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, cilantro, salt, black pepper, garlic powder and onion powder to the mashed avocado.
Stir everything together until you have a smooth, creamy dressing.
Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning if needed.
If you prefer a tangier flavor, add another teaspoon of lime juice.
For a spicier filling, add hot sauce, jalapeño or crushed red pepper flakes.
Step 4: Prepare the Vegetables
Finely dice the red onion, cucumber, red bell pepper and cherry tomatoes.
Slice the green onions and chop the fresh cilantro or parsley.
For the best lettuce wraps, keep the vegetables fairly small. This makes the filling easier to spoon into the lettuce and prevents the wraps from falling apart.
Step 5: Combine the Chicken and Avocado Mixture
Add the shredded chicken to the bowl containing the creamy avocado mixture.
Add the diced red onion, cucumber, red bell pepper, tomatoes, green onions and fresh herbs.
Gently fold everything together until the chicken and vegetables are evenly coated with the creamy avocado sauce.
Do not overmix, especially if you want some small pieces of avocado to remain visible.
Step 6: Taste and Adjust
Taste the chicken mixture before assembling the wraps.
Add more salt if necessary.
Add more lime juice for brightness.
Add black pepper for extra flavor.
Add hot sauce or jalapeño for heat.
Add a little more Greek yogurt if you want a lighter and creamier texture.
Add a small amount of mayonnaise if you prefer a richer and more indulgent filling.
Step 7: Prepare the Lettuce
Carefully separate the lettuce leaves.
Rinse them thoroughly under cold running water and gently pat them dry with paper towels.
It is important to dry the lettuce well. Excess water can make the wraps soggy and cause the filling to slide out.
If the lettuce leaves are very large, you can use one large leaf per wrap. If they are smaller, use two leaves together for extra strength.
Step 8: Assemble the Lettuce Wraps
Place a lettuce leaf on a clean plate.
Spoon approximately 1/3 to 1/2 cup of the creamy avocado chicken mixture into the center of the leaf.
Do not overfill the lettuce because it can become difficult to fold.
Add optional shredded cheddar cheese, extra cucumber, tomato, cilantro, jalapeño or hot sauce on top.
Fold the bottom portion of the lettuce upward over the filling.
Fold the sides inward and gently roll or fold the lettuce around the filling.
Repeat with the remaining lettuce and chicken mixture.
Step 9: Serve
Serve the wraps immediately with fresh lime wedges.
For a beautiful presentation, arrange the lettuce wraps on a serving platter and garnish with fresh cilantro, chopped green onions and a few lime wedges.
These wraps are delicious served cold or slightly chilled.
Creamy Avocado Chicken Lettuce Wraps Dressing Variation
For an even more flavorful dressing, combine:
2 tablespoons Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon honey or sugar, optional
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
A pinch of salt
Whisk everything together and drizzle it over the finished wraps.
Healthy High-Protein Version
For a higher-protein version, use 3 1/2 cups of chicken breast and increase the Greek yogurt to 1/3 cup while reducing the mayonnaise to 2 tablespoons.
You can also add chopped boiled eggs for additional protein.
Low-Carb Version
Use lettuce instead of tortillas and avoid sweet sauces or added sugar.
The avocado, chicken, vegetables and lettuce make this naturally suitable for a low-carb meal.
Keto Version
For a keto-friendly version, use full-fat mayonnaise and full-fat Greek yogurt in moderation. Omit honey and sweetened sauces. Use cheese if desired and choose low-carb vegetables.
Dairy-Free Version
Replace Greek yogurt with an unsweetened dairy-free yogurt or use additional avocado and mayonnaise.
Omit cheddar cheese.
Egg-Free Version
Use an egg-free mayonnaise.
Gluten-Free Version
The main ingredients are naturally gluten-free, but check mayonnaise, mustard, seasonings and other packaged ingredients for gluten-containing additives or cross-contamination if strict gluten avoidance is required.
Make-Ahead Instructions
The chicken can be cooked and shredded up to 2–3 days ahead.
The vegetables can be chopped ahead of time and stored separately in the refrigerator.
The lettuce should be washed and thoroughly dried before storing.
For best results, prepare the creamy avocado chicken mixture close to serving time because avocado naturally oxidizes and changes color.
Meal Prep Instructions
Divide the chicken mixture into individual airtight containers.
Store the lettuce leaves separately in a container lined with paper towels.
When ready to eat, place the chicken mixture into the lettuce leaves and add your preferred toppings.
For the best texture, do not assemble the lettuce wraps until you are ready to eat them.
Storage
Store the prepared chicken and avocado filling in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Best quality: within 1 day.
It can generally be kept for up to 2 days when properly refrigerated, but the avocado may darken slightly and the vegetables may soften.
Do not leave the chicken mixture at room temperature for extended periods.

Tips for the Best Creamy Avocado Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Use ripe avocados that are creamy but not overly brown.
Fresh lime juice makes a noticeable difference in the flavor.
Use chilled chicken for a refreshing lettuce wrap.
Do not add hot chicken directly to the avocado mixture because the heat can affect the texture and freshness of the avocado.
Dry the lettuce completely before assembling.
Do not overfill the lettuce leaves.
For extra crunch, add celery, cucumber, bell pepper or shredded cabbage.
For extra flavor, add smoked paprika or a small amount of hot sauce.
For a richer version, add shredded cheddar, Monterey Jack or mozzarella.
For a Mediterranean-style version, add chopped olives, cucumber, parsley and a little feta cheese.
For a spicy version, add jalapeño and hot sauce.
For a fresh summer version, add extra cucumber, tomatoes, cilantro and lime.
